Ethics & Materials
When creating new pieces of jewellery I tend to use stones that have been either ethically sourced or recycled – In the information of each product there will be a description of where in the world the stone has come from, to help you get to know the origin of your jewels better and the journey it has been on thus far to get to you.
Ethical stones:
When sourcing new stones I do my best to work with ethically mined materials which can be traced back to the mines; this means the customer is able to view the full story and the background of each stone. By using these stones my customers can be assured that the stones have been responsibly mined and that the people who are working in the mines are looked after, conditions are well regulated and a fair wage has been paid. Ethical stones are often more expensive than regular gemstones you may see on the market. The cost of the stone has a higher price point as everyone involved in the process from mining to cutting has been paid a fair wage and no-one has been exploited. When you purchase a piece of jewellery from Rosalyn Faith’s Ethical Stones Collection you will have the peace of mind that the gemstones are conflict free.

Recycled stones:
For some of my pieces I use recycled stones, I do this either by sourcing loose second-hand stones or by dismantling old or unwanted pieces of jewellery and re-working them into new designs to give them a new lease of life. With recycled stones we are not able to see the full history of where the stones have come from but you do have the peace of mind that no new minerals have been mined from the ground and you are saving the Earth’s materials.
Recycled Metals:
When casting new items of jewellery I standardly use recycled metals. I like to use recycled metals because the alloy has already been mined and no new metal is being extracted. There is a refinement process within the production of recycled alloys which ensures high quality metal. I use recycled materials where ever possible for these reasons as I feel it is better to re-use and recycle the materials that are already mined.
Fair-trade and Fair-mind alloys are also an option, and these help to support mining communities. please contact Rosalyn Faith for more information.
